Applications of BBa_K769201
2015 LZU-China
In iGEM 2015, LZU-China used the part as a new reporting gene to monitor the content of pollution. We submitted a twins part BBa_K1755001.
It can increase the electric output by synthesis of riboflavin.
Besides, riboflavin itself is yellow. After the addition of ribB, the bacteria will be yellow.
Usage in MFC
Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs) which can convert contaminants in wastewaters into energy is an ideal approach to solve both pollution problem and energy crisis. However, MFCs is hard to determine the contaminants concentrations which is a major drawback for MFCs applications, because of the electric output is too low.
Riboflavin is an excellent electron transport complex. However, the whole sequence of riboflavin synthase is too huge(more than 3000bp) to link to the plasmid pSB1C3. Evidence shows that, part of the riboflavin synthase DNA sequence (ribB) can also improve the secretion of riboflavin.
