AraCpBAD + BSMT1
This part is composed of BBa_K1065100 under the control of the inducibile promoter AraCpBAD. This promoter allows to obtain the production of Methyl Salicylate starting from Salicyclic Acid when 5 mM of Arabinose is added. This part was cloned by the iGEM UniTN Trento 2013 team for the creation of Wintergreen Device BBa_K1065106.
Usage and Biology
BSMT1 catalyzes the conversion of salicylic acid to methyl salicylate, which has a wintergreen smell.
The arabinose inducible promoter BBa_K731201 was fully characterized by iGEM UniTN Trento 2012.
