Light chain human ferritin

Light ferritin, along with heavy ferritin (hFTN INCLUDE LINKNKN), forms ferritin, a ubiquitous iron-storage nanoparticle. Iron is stored in a form called ferrihydrite (Fe2O3) <includ link for ferritin>

Ferritin has been used as a reporter system, in a manner similar to horseradish peroxidase, by a reaction known as the Fenton reaction. Hydrogen peroxide is homolytically cleaved to produce hydroxide radicals, which then react with certain substrates, such as TMB and ABTS, to produce a colourimetric change. <pictures or something>
