Applications of BBa_K515104
- The intended application of this construct was to negate the expression of holin within our Gene Guard system.
- The Gene Guard module was designed to tackle the issue of horizontal gene transfer. Horizontal gene transfer is a key issue when debating the release of GMOs and must therefore be tackled if any of these projects were to ever be field tested.
- The anti-holin of this construct will bind the holin of the BBa_K515106 construct and allow our strain of Escherichia coli to survive. The promoter and RBS strengths were calculated in order to make sure that the ratio between the two chosen promoters would be correct.

This part has been sequence verified. It has also been tested for protein expression. A nice clear band of the appropriate size can be seen at the bottom of the gel indicating a strong overexpression of a protein if this sequence is in a pSB1C3 plasmid.
