srfA promoter, short variant
Promoter for the surfactin regulatory gene. Isolated from B.subtilis using a shortened region between the response element and the transcription start side. The promoter is activated by quorum sensing, a process which it influences itself, during the late exponential stage. It activates the formation of bifilm, sporulation and natural competence of B.subtilis. Complete pathway to srfAA promoter linked to ComXPA signaling shown below.

Part Characterization
Promoter activity visualized by GFP expression using part BBa_E0240 in liquid minimal medium. The growth curve is overlaid by the Fluorescence intensity to indicate the timing of the expression. Measurements performed in a Tecan microplate fluorometer and the fluorescence normalized for OD.
