Physiological function of NHR-31
The nhr-31 activity is required for proper growth, development, and function of the excretory cell. In regulating excretory cell development, NHR-31 appears to function by controlling the expression of genes encoding subunits of the vacuolar ATPase.
Potential applications of GAL4-NHR-31
By the addition of lipid ligands(unknown), the created system activates the expression of any kind of genes fused to UAS(upstream activation seqence)previously. Also can be used as a lipid sensor by activating reporter genes (e.g. Luciferase).
