pntB: β subunit of membrane-bound proton-translocating pyridine nucleotide transhydrogen

pntB encodes PntB, the β subunit of membrane-bound proton-translocating pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase. It is composed of two domains, i.e. hydrophilic domain III containing the NADP(H) binding site and hydrophobic domain II containing the membrane spanning α-helices. PntB and PntA ensure that membrane-bound proton-translocating pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase has transhydrogenase activity together.

Usage and Biology

In carbon fixation module we constructed pBBR1MCS2-nadM-nadK-pntA-pntB to improve the intracellular NADPH and NADP+ level.

Fig.1 The map of plasmid pBBR1MCS2-nadM-nadK-pntA-pntB.

We successfully cloned the pntA-pntB gene by PCR.
