Introduction
The nikB is a subunit of the nik operon BBa_K2652006.
Usage and Biology
NikB encodes an integral inner membrane protein. It works together with nikC to facilitate the translocation of nickel ions across the inner membrane, contributing to the cell’s ability to import nickel under anaerobic conditions. In our design, nikB is constructed into our ribozyme-assisted polycistronic co-expression system BBa_K5115078(ribozyme+RBS+nikB+stem-loop), eventually making up parts BBa_K5115082(ribozyme connected nik operon), which is used for further experiments to facilitate nickel uptake in E. coli.
