nikA
Introduction
The nikA is a subunit of the nik operon BBa_K2652006.
Usage and Biology
NikA is a periplasmic nickel-binding protein, responsible for sensing and transporting nickel ions into the cell as part of the NikABCDE transporter system. In our design, NikA is constructed into our ribozyme-assisted polycistronic co-expression system BBa_K5115077(ribozyme+RBS+nikA+stem-loop), eventually making up parts BBa_K5115082(ribozyme connected nik operon), which is used for further experiments to facilitate nickel uptake in E. coli.
