cwlJ + sleB, B. subtilis germination genes
Both CwlJ and SleB are germination specific cortex hydrolases [1, 2]. Although SleB has a major effect for the germination, cwlJ's effect is minor. However Bacillus subtilis with double mutation without cwlJ and sleB were not able germinate again [2].
To control the germination rate tightly, cwlJ and sleB genes are combined to make this device.
