Sc4Des
Sc4Des encodes Δ-4 desaturase from Schizochytrium sp. which functions in the Δ-9 elongase/desaturase pathway and could convert C22:5 to C22:6.
Description
The Sc4Des gene encodes a ∆-4 desaturase of 427 amino acids from Schizochytrium sp. that catalyzes the conversion of Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA; C22:5n-3) to Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; C22:6n- 3). (Fig: The Gel Electrophoretic Image of Sc4Des gene)
Literature
Some studies have shown that Δ-4 desaturase from Schizochytrium sp.is used to produce Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
