EgDes5
EgDes5 encodes ∆-5 desaturase from Euglena gracilis which functions in the Δ-9 elongase/desaturase pathway and could convert C20:3 to C20:4.
Description
The EgDes5 gene encodes a ∆-5 desaturase of 449 amino acids from Euglena gracilis that catalyzes the conversion of dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (DGLA; C20: 3 n-6) to arachidonic acid (ARA; C20:4 n-6).
