This Cas6 protein from Vibrio cholerae is part of the insertion of transposable elements by guide RNA–assisted targeting (INTEGRATE) system devised by Vo et al.(2020). The INTEGRATE system consists of CRISPR RNA-guided integrases for bacterial genome engineering (see BBa_K3776022). In this system, Cas6 is part of the TniQ-Cascade protein complex which is necessary for RNA-guided DNA integration. Cas6 is a RNase which catalyses pre-crRNA processing.(Klompe et al., 2019)
