Inducible pBAD/araC promoter

It contains the pBAD promoter of the arabinose operon (BBa_K3365009) and its regulatory gene, araC (BBa_K2442103). The AraC protein is both a positive and a negative regulator. In the presence of arabinose, transcription from the pBAD promoter is turned on; in its absence, transcription occurs at very low levels. The uninduced levels can be reduced even further by growth in the presence of glucose.

Usage and Biology

The regulatory can be used to achieve very low levels of expression in the presence of inducer, obtain moderately high levels of expression in the presence of inducer, and modulate expression over a wide range of inducer concentrations.
