Glyphosate can be metabolized into formaldehyde in E.coli. Formaldehyde promoter provides an inducible scheme for downstream genes and proteins. The inverter(BBa_Q04510) plays the role of gene inversion which reverses expression pattern when existing. MazF(BBa_K1720002) was designed after formaldehyde promoter and inverter, made sense of our kill switch system in degradation: formaldehyde promoter can be activated after formaldehyde induction and MazF expression is blocked and reversed by inverter.
