GFP is a fluorescent protein from Aequorea victoria. This is a fusion protein with the HlyA secretion tag from the alpha-hemolysin system of E. coli.  It allows the GFP to be secreted directly from the cytosol to the extracellular medium.

GFPmut3 + HlyA

This is GFPmut3 based on BBa_E0040 with a secretion tag from the alpha-hemolysin system.

Usage and Biology

GFP is a fluorescent protein from Aequorea victoria. By fusing the HlyA sequence, a peptide consisting of 60 amino acids, to the C-terminus of the gene of GFP, allows the secretion directly from the cytosol into the extracellular environment by the type 1 secretion system HlyB–HlyD–TolC complex.
