Aryl-alcohol oxidase
Coding sequence of aryl-alcohol oxidase (AAO) (EC 1.1.3.7) codon optimised for Pichia pastoris
In wood-decaying fungi, AAO supports lignin degradation by providing peroxidases with the necessary hydrogenperoxide (Ferreira et al., 2009).
AAO facilitates following reaction:
primary aromatic alcohol + O2 = aromatic aldehyde + H2O2
