Biology
The heme oxygenase coding sequence (encoding the enzyme for the oxidative degradation of heme into biliverdin IX alpha) is coupled with an RBS (BBa_B0034) , resulting in the formation of a translational unit. The RBS (with a Shine Dalgarno like sequence) helps in the binding of the ribosome initiating the process of translation.
