pDegP

The DegP gene encodes for periplasmic serine endoprotease DegP. This endonuclease protects E. coli at high temperatures. Moreover, it is involved in guarding the bacterial cell against acid stress. Previous research has indicated the possible role of DegP in degrading misfolded proteins. (Fu et al, 2018)
