InterLab Measurement Kit

New for 2016, we are providing teams with the InterLab Measurement Kit! The InterLab activity is completely optional and is not required for any team.

Please note: there is a small error on the printed label on the box. There is one (1) FITC tube in the kit and NOT two (2).

The InterLab_Measurement_Kit should be stored at room temperature or 4C. Do NOT store below 4C (ex: -20C) as this causes an IRREVERSIBLE precipitation of the LUDOX solution!

Important Update: A few teams have reported that the tubes containing the DNA plasmids are empty. Unfortunately, the tubes we used don't appear to be fully airtight and the liquid has evaporated. Please try resuspending the tubes in 100uLs of diH2O or TE buffer and vortexing them well, before spinning them down and transforming your cells with 5uL of plasmid. If that fails, please email Traci (traci AT igem DOT org) for replacement tubes.

The kit includes 7 tubes (5 with plasmid DNA and 3 with standard reagents):

  • Plasmid DNA (100 pg/uL in 10uL of Buffer EB)
    • Test Device 1: J23101.B0034.E0040.B0015 in pSB1C3
    • Test Device 2: J23106.B0034.E0040.B0015 in pSB1C3
    • Test Device 3: J23117.B0034.E0040.B0015 in pSB1C3
    • Positive Control Device: I20270 in pSB1C3 Also located in Kit Plate 3, well 8P
    • Negative Control Device: R0040 in pSB1C3 Also located in Kit Plate 2, well 6F
  • FITC Standard: one tube with dried down FITC for creating a FITC standard
  • LUDOX: one tube with 30% colloidal silica suspended in 1mL of water

For details on how to use this InterLab Measurement Kit, please check out the 2016 InterLab Page.
