SCVE, the abbreviation of SARS Caronavirus Envolope protein,is a kind of effective viroporin(viroporins are similar to porins in that they oligomerize within the membrane to form pores and this oligomerization often occurs between hydrophobic, transmembrane and alpha-helical domains of the proteins) within 76 residues that is found normally pentamerized in bacteria. SCVE is permeable for many small molecules, which is originately designed for apoptosis of cells triggered by virus. Implementation of SCVE in ROSE may potentially improve the permeability of small molecules including antibiotics.

Safety Flag

The iGEM Safety and Security Committee has placed a Red Flag on this part. This part presents safety risks beyond what is normal for the Registry. Researchers who plan to acquire and use this part should take special care to ensure they use it safely and responsibly. Contact safety [AT] igem [DOT] org with any questions.

Reason: envelope protein

If you are an iGEM team, you must submit a Check-In before acquiring and using this part! See the 2021 Safety Page for more information.

SARS Coronavirus Envelope Protein

This part is SARS Coronavirus Envelope Protein, abbreviated as SCVE. The protein will improve the bactial permeability, which is one of the strategy of permeability improvement originally inplemented in USTC 2015.

Description

Experimental Result

We had already done the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of SCVE successfully.
