From fluorescence assay conducted, we found that the sensor failed to perform its intended function (detecting lactic acid). Fluorescence/OD measurement remained constant across lactic acid concentrations on a log scale from 0 to 0.1M. We suspect that it is because E. coli themselves regulate lactate in the environment, hence over time the lactate concentration equilibrates to a constant concentration across all experimental set ups.
