The chromoprotein aeBlue exhibits a distinct blue color when expressed. In order to avoid absorption by the chomoproteins during OD measurement of a bacterial culture, the absorption and emission spectra were measured. An optimal wavelength for spectral optical density measurement was determined to be at 520nm according to these spectra. iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013: Absorption spectrum of chromoprotein aeBlue in a wavelength range of 400-800 nm. Absorption maximum of aeBlue: 595 nm iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013:Emission spectrum of the chromoprotein aeBlue. This chromoprotein does not show any significant emission in a wavelength range between 500-800 nm and therefore cannot be detected by its fluorescence.
