Inducible promoter of the rhl quorum sensing system with RBS
This construct is derived from BBa_R0071 and BBa_B0032. It combines the inducible promoter of the rhl Quorum sensing system of P. aeruginosa which is activated by RhlR in combination with N-butyryl homoserine lactone (N-butyryl-HSL) with an RBS.
Usage and Biology
The device can be cloned in front of a desired gene of interest in order to induce its expression by N-butyryl-HSL. The inducible Promotor from Pseudomonas aeruginosa is activated by RhlR complexed with the specific autoinducer N-butyryl-HSL produced by RhlI. The induction of the promoter in P. aeruginosa leads to the activation of transcription of different virulence-associated traits in the cell [Medina et al., 2003]. For further information of the inducible promoter see BBa_R0071.
