The promoter ydiV is know to be turned on when signaled by SdiA. RFP is a common signal protein.

he E. coli promoter that expressed YdiV is know to be activated by the transcriptional regulator SdiA.  SdiA is a LuxR homolog that senses non-specific quarem-sensing molecules (AHL's).

SdiA has been shown to be activated by a wide variety of AHL's (non-specific AHL's).  We have shown that V. cholera also activates SdiA and created this fusion to detect SdiA activity more easily.
