Usage and Biology

A device was constructed that contained the three enzymes VioA, VioB, and VioE.

As can be seen in the images below, this three enzyme operon was sufficient to produce a green pigment (prodeoxyviolacein) from tryptophan present in the culture media. Samples were grown in LB media with or without IPTG .
