Bcr - multidrug efflux system
Bcr is a multidrug efflux pump that belongs to the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), native to Escherichia coli. When overexpressed in E. coli, it is known to confer varying degrees of resistance to several antibiotics, including bicyclomycin (selection-capable); tetracycline (8-fold increase in MIC^); kanamycin (4-fold increase in MIC^); fosfomycin (4-fold increase in MIC^); and acriflavine (2-fold increase in MIC^) [see Reference 2].
