Usage and Biology
This BioBrick is used for adding introns to the messenger RNA of a gene. Introns are thought to enhance the expression of genes in mammalian cells, although introns aren't absolutely necessary for mammalian synthetic genes. This part is also handy for co-expressing a microRNA of your own choice (Chung et al., 2006) along with a visible reporter protein. When using this part, place it between the promoter and the translation start+coding sequence of your gene.
