pLacI + RBS + Cpn10
This part was submitted by team [http://2011.igem.org/Team:Amsterdam Amsterdam 2011] as part of their project: icE. coli. Its purpose is to express the Cpn10 protein from Oleispira antarctica (BBa_K538000) under control of the Lac operon's promoter, pLacI (BBa_R0010). When coexpressed with Cpn60 (BBa_K538001), it should strongly increase E. coli 's ability to grow at low temperature. Coexpression can be achieved by transforming an E. coli strain comprising this BioBrick with a Cpn60 generator, such as K538201 and K538301, or by transforming cells with an operon-like BioBrick containing both the Cpn10 and Cpn60 coding regions, such as K538210, K538211, K538310 and K538311.
Refer to the main pages of the coding region parts (Cpn10: BBa_K538000 and Cpn60: BBa_K538001) for more information on how they facilitate cold resistance in E. coli.
