crtW (beta-carotene ketolase) with rbs

CrtW (beta-carotene ketolase) from Brevundimonas sp. strain SD212 (MBIC 03018)Accession: AB377271.

This is the enzyme of the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway. CrtW converts zeaxanthin to astaxanthin, the final metabolite of the pathway.

In order to confirm that BBa_K395705 is worked, we construct a BioBrick part (BBa_K395706), which contains this part under BBa_K395702. We synthesized astaxanthin by BBa_K395706, when add beta-carotene as a substrate. Thus we confirmed that BBa_395705 is working. Characterization of BBa_K395706 has been performed in E. coli strain MG1655. (→[http://2010.igem.org/Team:Tokyo_Tech/Project/Apple_Reporter more information])
