This part is derived from BBa_P1010.

The following changes have been made.

  1. ccdA- has been deleted since its presence is not necessary for ccdB's function as a toxin.
  2. Some sequence from the 5' end of BBa_P1010 has also been deleted in order to eliminate a BamHI site.
  3. Silent mutations have been introduced in order to eliminate useful restriction sites and rare codons.
