Introduction

The nikE is a subunit of the nik operon BBa_K2652006.

Usage and Biology

NikE is a membrane-associated protein with ATPase activity in the NikABCDE complex. It provides the energy required for nickel transport by hydrolyzing ATP. In our design, nikE is constructed into our ribozyme-assisted polycistronic co-expression system BBa_K5115081(ribozyme+RBS+nikE+stem-loop), eventually making up parts BBa_K5115082(ribozyme connected nik operon), which is used for further experiments to facilitate nickel uptake in E. coli.
