pCstA+RBS+RcsB+TT

This is the functional transcriptional unit which allows expression of the RcsB receiver protein and positive regulation of colanic acid production.

The PcstA promoter is cAMP activated. Under low glucose concentrations, there is increased activity by adenylate cyclase. This results in cAMP binding to the cAMP receptor protein, and activating the promoter for downstream expression of RcsB.

Usage and Biology

This composite part, comprising of subparts BBa_K200020 and BBa_K200024, was used in [http://2009.igem.org/Team:Imperial_College_London The E.ncapsulator] project by Imperial iGEM 2009.
