Plasma membrane targeting (Myrpalm)

Localization sequence to direct a protein into the cell membrane. This part has the BBb-standard restriction sites.

Usage and Biology

This localization signal is located at the N-terminal end of the amino acid chain. The myrpalm signalsequence causes a myristoylation and palmitoylation of the targeted protein. Both modifications lead to a binding to the cell membrane.

Shown to localize proteins to the plasma membrane. An expression device consisting of Part:BBa_I712004 (CMV) Part:BBa_K203103 (GFP), Part:BBa_K203108 and Part:BBa_K203102 (terminator) was assembled for this characterization.
