tHMG1
"HMG1, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase, is the endogenous gene in yeast. It can catalyze the conversion from hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA (HMG-CoA) to mevalonate (MVA). By accumulating MVA through the over expression of tHMG1, MVA pathway is expressed more efficiently, and the yield of isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP) would increase, which are both precursors of pinene, hence the yield of pinene can be increased.
