T7 Promoter-RBS-LuxI-B0015 Ter
LuxI is the synthase gene for autoinducers, which, when expressed, can produce signal molecules known as N-acyl homoserine lactones (AHL or HSL). Introducing this pathway into E. coli can be used to produce N-acyl homoserine lactones (AHL or HSL). AHL signal molecules can freely diffuse across the cell membrane, and their concentration increases with the cell density. When the concentration of signal molecules reaches a threshold, they bind to LuxR to form a complex, which activates the transcription of the luciferase operon.
