We found that <i>ptpA</i> gene in <i>S. oneidensis</i> MR-1 is highly homologous with the WzB in the <i>Escherichia coli</i>. In<i> E. coli</i>, WzB plays an important role in polysaccharide biosynthesis by acting as a protein-tyrosine phosphatase. By knocking out <i>ptpA</i> gene and complementation, we verified that <i>ptpA</i> gene in <i>S. oneidensis</i> MR-1may possibly effect the biofilm formation and its conductivity by meditating the polysaccharide biosynthesis.
