Diamine Oxidases, DAO,  are widespread among living organisms and found in both microorganisms and in plants and animals. DAO is responsible for histamine metabolism: it was also named histaminase because it was identified as the enzyme that cleared histamine from minced lung and liver samples. DAO was proposed to represent a safeguard against deleterious effects from exogenous amines. For example, it is related to histamine detoxification in the intestinal tract and to putrescine and histamine detoxification in placental tissues. And rat Diamine Oxidase, rDAO, plays an important role in oxidizing histamine in rat. This protein can be expressed and purified to degrade histamine.

Rat Diamine Oxidase

Team HKUST 2022 add a N-terminal pelB leader sequence in rDAO. Adding pelB tag to rDAO increase the correct expression of rDAO in our chassis. To know more about our experiment result, refer to composite part BBa_K4225007 BBa_K4225007, and to know more about effect on pelB on rDAO in our DH5α chassis, refer to our wiki page
