Design Notes
Oxygen and its active substances, such as H2O2 and O2-, react with Fe2+ in the cell, forming HO·, which could damage DNA. Dps protein prevents Fe2+ from reacting with H2O2. In addition, Dps protein helps maintain manganese homeostasis, as it stores and releases Manganese. We applied this gene to C. tyrobutyricum so that it might enhance the viability of C. tyrobutyricum in aerobic environment.
