When transformed into E.coli, the colonies had a red hue. This was also observed in the overnight cultures made from these transformed E.coli cells. E.coli to Bacillus subtilis shuttle vectors, similar to the one used in our project, can drive high expression in E.coli in the absence of the inducer. However, Expression in Bacillus  exclusively inducible. mScarlet has an absorbance of 569 nanometers and an emission maxima of 594 nanometers and the wavelength of white light is between 400 to 700 nanometers. This can explain  the observes red hue in our transformants.
