A oxygen-sensitive promoter
This part codes for the promoter nirB. The nirB promoter, known as nitrite reductase (NADH) large subunit, was derived from the E. coli top10 strain (PCR image shown in Figure 1). It can be used as a sensor of intracellular oxygen concentration due to the fact that it is expressed at much higher levels under low oxygen concentration conditions than under normal oxygen concentration (as shown in Figure 2), regardless of the presence of nitrite or nitrate in the environment
