P_PS-PR

This part is a strong constitutive promoter for cyanobacteria. The promoter sequence is composed by the fusion of a truncated variant of the rRNA promoter PR from Synechococcus PCC7942 and the PS promoter from E. coli.

Is one of the strongest promoters known in cyanobacteria, able to drive expression levels up to 15% of total protein.

Summary: Promoter PS-PR have demonstrated one of the highest expression levels in Synechococcus elongatus genre as well as related cyanobacteria species. This promoter element has been adapted to Phytobricks standard and succesfully assembled.

This phytobrick compatible promoter is part of a wider collection of regulatory elements for cyanobacteria, which are part of MADRID_UCM 2021 team contribution to iGEM community.
