Glycine-serine (GS) linker
GS linker represents a glycine-serine linker, which is used for the separation of two domains in such way that they are physically connected but the original functionality remains.
We decided to include GS linker in our design to keep the catalytic domain of endo5a separate from the cellulose-binding domain (CBD).
We chose this specific 10 amino-acid linker (GGGGSGGGGS) because it was used in a previous study to fuse endo5a to another domain.
NCBI Genbank number for the GS linker sequence linked to the cellulase endo5a is HQ657205.1.
