colicin E7 production system induced by lactose

This system is induced by lactose to produce colicin E7 with Immunity protein.
For more insights on the functions of E7-Immunity gene, please visit our BBa_K117001 part

How does this system work?

In OFF state: pLacI is inhibited by its inhibitor LacI which is produced by the lac operon. As a result, E7-Imm gene cannot be expressed.
In ON state: upon adding of lactose, lacI is no longer able to bind to LacI promoter. Hence, lactose indirectly triggers the expression of E7-Imm.
