Considering dinoflagellates have many codons that code for the same amino acids, favorable codons of the dinoflagellates were chosen using the chart below to ensure the translation of the red fluorescent protein. This part can be used as a reporter or indicator of a successful transformation. Positive results are demonstrated by red fluorescence emitted from the cells.
