Surface (S)-Layer Protein Constitutive Promoter for Lactobacillus sp.
P-slp is a constitutive promoter which can be used in Lactobacillus reuteri 10023C, and may have uses in other Lactobacillus species.
The (S)-layer protein (slp) promoter is derived from Lactobacillus acidophilus, and is responsible for the high level of transcription of stable mRNAs coding the S-protein monomers (Boot & Pouwels, 1996; Boot et al., 1996). It was characterised in six strains of Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactococcus lactis spp. cremoris MG1363 by Lizier et al, 2010.
