S.C cenXV

S.C cenXV is Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosome XV centromere.Centromeres are specialized DNA sequences that link a pair of sister chromatids. During mitosis, the spindle attaches to the centromere through the kinetochore. Centromeres are mainly considered as loci that guide chromosomal behavior.

Physically, centromeres provide loci for kinetochore assembly. Kinetics is a highly complex protein structure that is actually responsible for chromosome segregation. When all chromosomes bind properly to the spindle, they bind to tubulin and send signals to the cell to ensure the correct division of the cell.

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of centromeres in organisms. "Point centromere" binds to specific proteins and recognizes DNA sequences efficiently and specifically. In a particular species, any DNA with point centromere sequences usually forms a centromere structure. Spotted centromeres were most evident in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

We transferred it to the Yarrowia lipolytica and hoped that it could stabilize chromosome in the fusion system.
