P_las is the promoter from the quorum sensing system of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The quorum sensing system is known to interfere with gene expression in a population density dependent manner. This promoter sequence will be activated upon induction with a quorum sensing molecule, synthesized by another component of the quorum sensing system (LasI) and by co-activation via the regulator protein LasR.
