Cell division inhibitor cbtA

CbtA is a cytoskeleton toxin from E. coli. It is the third part in our growth inhibition module. We decided to use this component of the type IV toxin-antitoxin system, because it interacts with FtsZ and MreB. Both proteins are involved in the elongation of E. coli during cell division as well as for building of the F-ring, to divide the cell.

Usage and Biology

CbtA inhibits the polymerization of FtsZ and MreB by binding to them and therefore inhibits cell division.1
