Usage and Biology
The Acetyl-CoA biotin carboxyl carrier protein is part of the acetyl-CoA carboxylase ACC, which is the major regulator for fatty acid biosynthesis in e. coli. It is encoded as a single mRNA with the downstream accC, which is encoding for the biotin carboxylase of the complex.1 The acetyl-CoA biotin carboxyl carrier protein binds with biotin and transfers carboxylated biotin to the acetyl-CoA carboxyltransferase.2
The acetyl-CoA biotin carboxyl carrier protein was used in our myristic acid synthesis module, BBa_K2588022.
